Hi there!
It's been a good week or so since I last posted, and today definitely warrants an update.
I thought that I'd slowed down on the job applications a little too much over the last few days. I applied to several great ones last week and even this morning, but I've gotten to the point where I'm not expecting to hear back from anyone; there's still a little under a month till I get to London, and most production companies look to hire for an immediate start.
Then about an hour ago, the shock of my life: I had an email from the BBC, saying that I'd made it to the first round of interviews for their Staff Scheduling Co-Ordinator position.
Holy. Guacamole.
I barely believed it, just because I was used to getting the polite rejection emails from them. I thought that's what this email was, too, until I caught the, "We're pleased to inform you..." part. This position is a six-month contract (perfect timing), doing similar work to what I do now in Boston, but with a heavier focus on production scheduling, rather than budgeting and expenses (though there would be some work with the Finance Team in the mix, too). The email said that I can expect someone from recruitment to get in touch with me soon--I'd imagine later this week.
So there you go! Another bit of hope that I'll find something suitable! Even if this doesn't pan out, it's a great step, and I know that I'll learn from it.
